Industrial Brothers Job Board
System Administrator
Description
System Administrator
Industrial Brothers is looking for a System Administrator to help keep our studio’s technology running smoothly and securely. If you’re a hands-on IT professional who loves problem-solving, optimizing performance, and supporting a creative environment, this role is your chance to make a direct impact on how our artists and production teams bring stories to life.
What You’ll Do
- Keep systems humming: Manage and maintain Linux and Windows servers, including Active Directory, DNS/DHCP, and file services.
- Virtualize efficiently: Deploy, monitor, and optimize virtual machines and containers in Proxmox or VMware environments.
- Manage storage: Oversee centralized NAS systems (TrueNAS, Qumulo, NFS, SMB) to ensure uptime, performance, and data integrity.
- Safeguard data: Maintain reliable backup and replication tools (rclone, Duplicati, rsync, Oracle Cloud) and ensure disaster recovery readiness.
- Support the floor: Provide responsive technical support to staff across production, creative, and technical teams — from render access to licensing fixes.
- Secure the network: Administer firewalls, switches, and VLANs (OPNsense, Mellanox, or similar), ensuring stable and secure connectivity.
- Enable remote work: Manage VPNs, Cloudflare tunnels, and Teradici PCoIP systems for seamless distributed collaboration.
- Stay proactive: Monitor performance dashboards, track capacity, and address bottlenecks before they become issues.
- Document everything: Maintain clear documentation for configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting — creating reliable, repeatable processes.
- Collaborate creatively: Partner with the IT and Pipeline teams to deploy and manage production software like Maya, Houdini, Storyboard Pro, and Substance.
What You Bring
- 3–5 years of systems administration experience, ideally in an animation, VFX, or post-production studio.
- Solid hands-on knowledge of:
- Linux and Windows Server administration
- Virtualization (Proxmox, VMware, Xen)
- Storage systems (TrueNAS, Qumulo, NFS, SMB)

- Experience with scripting and automation (Bash, Python, or PowerShell).
- Strong troubleshooting skills, organization, and attention to detail.
- Clear communicator who can translate technical solutions for creative teams.
- Process-driven with excellent documentation and follow-through.
Nice to Have
- Experience with containerized environments (Docker).
- Familiarity with render and production pipelines, including ShotGrid, Deadline, or similar tools.
