Head of Pipeline
Industrial Brothers is looking for a Head of Pipeline to lead the future of our animation production tools and workflows. If you’re a hands-on senior Pipeline TD who loves building smart solutions, guiding teams, and shaping the bigger picture of how productions get made. This is your chance to make a real impact.
What You’ll Do
- Lead by doing: Design, build, and maintain custom software tools while mentoring a small team of Pipeline TDs.
- Set the vision: Drive the roadmap for pipeline software development, balancing open-source innovation (Ynput/Ayon, Blender/Krita) with custom solutions.
- Collaborate across the floor: Work hand-in-hand with IT, CG, Production, and artists to solve problems and streamline workflows.
- Guide & oversee: Support show-specific TDs, ensuring standards are met and tools are reusable across productions.
- Innovate boldly: Prototype emerging technologies (USD, real-time engines, third-party tools) and recommend the best fit for the studio
- Communicate clearly: Share updates, challenges, and solutions with stakeholders at all levels, from artists to executive management.
What You Bring
- Excellent communicator who can bridge tech and creative teams.
- Proven experience developing tools for Maya, Houdini, Nuke, Substance, ShotGrid, and Deadline.
- Advanced Python (PySide/PyQt) and strong Git version control skills.
- Web development know-how (Django/SQL) and bonus points for C++ and USD libraries.
- Familiarity with Unreal or Unity is a plus.
- Calm, pragmatic problem-solver with a collaborative mindset.
Experience
- Degree in Computer Science (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience building pipeline tools for animation or VFX, with 7+ years preferred.
- 3+ years in a lead or supervisory role, mentoring Pipeline TDs.
- Prior experience as a Pipeline Supervisor or Head of Pipeline is a strong asset.
- Background in animation series production pipelines is highly valued.
