Storyboard Supervisor
Description
We’re seeking a Storyboard Supervisor to join our team on a 2D animated preschool series rooted in warmth, emotional authenticity, comedy, and relatable early childhood experiences. The series centers on character-driven storytelling designed to support young viewers through everyday moments with clarity, heart, and humor.
As the Storyboard Supervisor you will lead the storyboard department and oversee the visual storytelling of the series, ensuring clear and engaging storyboards that align with the director’s vision.
Responsibilities:
- Lean and manage a team of storyboard artists and a revisionist
- Collaborate closely with your fellow Series Director and board artists
- Create thumbnails based on scripts to launch Board artists
- Provide clear and constructive feedback to support strong visual storytelling, tailored to preschool
- Maintain tonal consistency across episodes, balancing humor and heart in a way that resonates with young children and their caregivers
- Work in Toon Boom Storyboard Pro to review, annotate, and adjust boards as needed
- Participate in Storyboard pitches and creative discussions
- Ensure staging and storytelling align with production needs
- Mentoring and supporting other Storyboard Artists and Revisionists
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Storyboard Supervisor or strong senior-level storyboard experience on a 2D animated preschool series is preferred (but not necessary)
- Demonstrated expertise in preschool storytelling, including clarity of action, emotional beats, simple cause-and-effect structure, and visually driven narrative
- Proficiency in Toon Boom Storyboard Pro
- Excellent communication, organization, and collaborative skills
- Ability to balance creative leadership with production realities and schedules
- Please provide a link to your portfolio or work showcasing 2D storyboards or animatics (before revisions if possible). Preschool-appropriate samples are preferred if available
