Senior Designer (3D Preschool Series)

Location: Toronto, ON (In Studio)
Studio: Industrial Brothers
Contract: Fixed Term (until October 1, 2027, with possibility of extension)

Industrial Brothers is looking for an enthusiastic Senior Designer to join our award-winning team on an exciting new 3D animated preschool television series. 
Help us bring this show to life as our new Senior Designer!

What You’ll Do

  • Working closely with the Director and Art Director to design 3D characters, locations and props in the style of the show.
  • Provide multiple views, maps and exploratory designs of locations.
  • Produce character expressions and pose sheets to assist animation.
  • Collaborate with the Director and Art Director to develop a consistent look for the show.
  • Translate asset descriptions from scripts to produce quick sketches for locations in the pre-production phase.
  • Make any changes or revisions as necessary while maintaining deadlines assigned, communicating with the Art Director regarding status of work and any problems that may arise.
  • Provide additional design support when needed (eg: colour swatches, texture callouts for surfacing, etc.)
  • Demonstrate commitment to creative collaboration in a time-sensitive environment.

What We’re Looking For

  • 2-5 years’ experience working in the animation or film industry. Working in pre-school or children’s TV is a plus.
  • Solid knowledge of animation pipelines and production workflows.
  • A strong visual sensibility, ideally with experience designing preschool content.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard tools (Adobe Creative Suite)
  • Bonus: Working knowledge of Maya is an asset!
  • A positive attitude and dedication to the success of the project.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Designer in animation a must
  • Excellent drawing and painting skills.
  • Strong drawing ability and sense of design for CG
  • A strong understanding of proportion, balance, perspective, and dimension
  • A solid grasp of composition, colour theory, layout, light and design.
  • Capable of working and adapting within an established style
  • Ability to organize and manage time effectively to meet deadlines
  • Capable of taking direction and working collaboratively within a team
  • Ability to communicate in a professional and positive manner

Compensation

$78,000.00 - $88,400.00 per year
